  • Dinner....At 165 Feet!

    Posted: 12:25, April 29, 2008

Now I've heard of some nutty and way out there, themed restaurants before, and over time I've even been to a few....but nothing like this! I had to "small-ify" these photos else they would've been way too big to fit onto my page; but they're quite clear nevertheless:

I had to get to this picture before I could understand just how it is that they got up there...a freaking crane no less!

The chairs that they're sitting in swivel 180 degrees in order that the patrons get a commanding view of the city....at 165 feet.

Kinda reminds me of some those amusement park rides that have the big arms on them that hold a large cab full of people and it swings up to down in full circles. One I've never ridden!

Betcha didn't think it could get any better now didja.....

Un-freakin'-be-lievable! Live dinner music no less! I wonder if the piano player was hard to hear with any wind there may have been way up there??

So there you have it...if you're ever in Brussels at the "Dolce - la Hulpe Brussels Hotel and Conference Center", and you're looking for a new and unique place to eat, and of course don't have a problem with heights, then go to dinnerinthesky.com to make your reservations. However, upon closer research there are other countries with cities that have the same thing.
I've had breakfasts, lunches and dinners at 35,000 feet before in an enclosed airplane but never this high up out in the open. Something tells me I wouldn't or couldn't, and I'm not afraid of heights.

Nope...me either! I am scared to death of heights. Even if you did get me up there I would never open my eyes and I would be so scared I would probably puke....don't think the other guests would appreciate that!

Kinda makes you wonder how that food goes down at that height. And does etiquette dictate that you puke up there...or wait until your back on Mother Earth??

Something I forgot; wouldn't the noise from the diesel engine crane be a little distracting? Or are you so high up you can't hear it? Sure would take any romance outta the picture if you could hear it.

I would also think it would get very windy up there!

So what do they do if you drop your fork?

Have a funeral for the poor bastard that gets impaled by it on the ground.

Oh, hahaha, I never thought of that!

I can see the tombstone, now...

    "Here lies Joe...all forked up."

    *snork!*

    LOL...

Thanks to all of you..I needed a good laugh! "All forked up", now that's a goodin I tell ya!!

Laurie....speaking of being windy up there, if you look at the people you don't see their hair blowing all around. Maybe it was just a calm day that day, who knows.

And I wonder what those chefs make that their job description has them going up high like that to cook for those folks day and night. Were it me? I wouldn't settle for anything less than six-figures!!

Apparently it cost mega bucks to have dinner up there, so I'm assuming they get paid pretty well!

I bet everyone has to sign some kind of clause stating they won't sue if it breaks and they go tumbling down.

Not a chance! No way! I'd be freakin' out the entire time. I could not do that!

Oh wow....there's no way you would catch me up there.....the crane ride alone would give me a heart attack!

Laurie....I believe that a contract with the clause of no law suits in the event of some sort of accident would be very appropriate, and if they don't they sure as hell should!

I'm sure that it's quite an expensive dinner...a lot of business executives use that as a business meeting/dinner/something very different/status. I can think of better ways to eat my dinner...not at 165 feet in the air, tied to a crane, and swaying in the wind on a windy day! Just imagine if someone who's prone to seasickness or carsickness gets sick if the gondola, or whatever it's called starts to sway and swing back and forth. I wouldn't want to be sitting next to that person!!

I just looked back at my last statement, pretty funny because it doesn't make sense, haha. I think if they go tumbling down, they won't be alive to sue anyhow, lol.

I guess you're kinda fucked if you drop your napkin.

Some people just have too much money and not enough brains.. expect the guy that started this and is raking it in from the schmucks that pay for it. That would never happen over here in sue-crazy and crane accident prone California!
    What a rip...
Maybe they holler "Falling Fork!!" Like we did for rocks when were climbing. And 165 feet is nothing. I have climbed and ate at 1000 feet in Yosemite...
    On Belay!!

Jana, that's another thing on that list I was talking about. *shudder*

Jana the climber....who'd a thunk! I would just love to go to Yosemite, and hey, I'd eat up there at least!!!
