  • Well....Congrats To Obama!

    Posted: 09:25, June 5, 2008

Yes....he's a happy camper. And let me be the first conservative here at EFX to congratulate Barack Obama on his Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States of America. Although his opponent Hillary Clinton has yet to concede, and the dynasty appears to be on the way out, it would make sense for Obama to soak up this victory.

But Obama has many hurdles to jump if he plans on going all the way. Yesterday he gave a speech at Aipac, a Jewish and pro-Israel lobbiest group and was then followed by Hillary Clinton. Yes Obama's speech was quite eloquent and indeed quite presidential sounding, all-in-all impressive. However....I might call it the pacification speech. Just a few weeks ago he didn't sound this way, nor did he talk this way. Yes, yesterday he talked real tough....he must pacify if he's to move forward, and he must appeal to the Jewish vote....many of whom don't really care for him. I might add that he said nothing different from any other presidential hopeful when addressing the Jewish nation. For the past 60 years we've promised to maintain our close relationship, and for the past 60 years we've kept that promise. What's new with anything you said yesterday Barack?
Just a few weeks ago he minimized the threat that Iran poses to us and the world...today he called Iran a "grave threat." And he made it clear, at least to the group he was in front of today, that he would use real tough diplomacy when dealing with Iran and would not take military action off the table. We heard nothing about this just a few weeks ago. What changed? Was it to pacify?

Which is it Barack? God Bless the young man...he's come from obscurity to the nomination, huge steps for a young guy that has basically no experience. Big talk for a guy that doesn't seem to have a grasp on the realities of the world we live in today. I can't figure out which bubble it is that he lives in. I say pacification because now that he has all but won this nomination, he must, above all else try to appeal to everyone, and the "all-of-a-sudden" tough rhetoric, especially when aligning with the Jewish nation of Israel, and the conservatives that understand the need for a strong military, well, he's got to appeal to us and he's liable to say what he thinks is necessary to make us like him more and believe that he's capable of handling these tough issues. I'm convinced that'll all change should he become president.

If you were to get a transcript of his speech at Aipac, you'd find that he did not talk this way just a few days ago. He doesn't want any pre-conditions in any talks with Iran, Bush already said that. He wants to set the rules....haven't we already tried that? He wants to circumvent the United Nations, that's funny, didn't Bush go to the UN time and again, (umm, 19 times no less), yet to no avail? Gee....I thought that liberal Democrats thought the world of the UN and wanted them to take charge in matters of foreign diplomacy, or at least be involved. Obama now says that we shouldn't let our "European" friends shoulder the burden, or rather, "farm out" the responsibility of dealing with Iran and the likes...that we should take charge. When Bush tried it the Democrats went ballistic saying that we're not being all inclusive, that we're being the world police, we need to include our friends. We've tried; why, or how, could Obama do differently. Oh...I know, because he's a Democrat and that automatically makes it different.

Finally where all this is concerned. Our gas prices are so high right now and just getting higher. The blame right now lays squarely on the shoulders of our Democratic controlled Congress. Every step of the way they have blocked legislation that would allow us to explore for oil off of our shores and within our country. In 2000 experts told us that if we started drilling in Anwar, a province in Alaska, that by the year 2007 we'd be pumping oil to our very own stations and we'd greatly lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Environmentalist whackos and the Democratic Congress blocked it. They won't let us explore and they won't let us drill.

Environmentalist whackos and the Democratic Congress will not pass legislation letting us build oil drilling platforms off of our shores, in oil rich shales. Right now....China and India have platforms being built a mere 50 miles off of the Florida coast with slant drilling capabilities. Meaning....they can drill 8,000 feet down, and then slant the drill up to a mile and drill for oil in our own territory. Congress doesn't seem to care and Obama wants to find new sources of energy. That's great....but not an immediate solution, his notions will not alleviate our immediate needs. Bush, and the oil company's that liberals hate so bad have been searching and researching diligently for new sources of energy, but we need oil now! And we need more nuclear energy....but that's being blocked as well.

As a liberal Democrat president he will follow the lead of the Nancy Pelosi's and the Harry Reid's and the other leading liberal Dems and their influence and will not let us move forward with drilling for our own oil and get us the hell away from Saudi Arabia and the other Middle Eastern states that we now depend on for oil.
I can congratulate the man....it is indeed a big achievement. But he is not presidential material and I believe that he is a follower and not a leader. We need someone who really knows how Washington works, and we need someone who's been around the block a few times. We do not need someone who will just follow the liberal creed and pretend to be bi-partisan and then take his marching orders from this God-awful liberal Democrat controlled Congress.

We will have that with Barack Hussein Obama, a pacifier to the American people, a follower of Congress and one that will drop the safety net that now hangs over American soil.

I think that is the one thing that confused me the most about politics...the speeches. I feel like every candidate is telling me what I want to hear...not what they are actually going to do. It seems like all of them change as the campaign goes on.

It also feels like it really doesn't matter. Every politician makes big promises, but all the other powers in the government can change that by how they vote! look what happened with the whole Gore/Bush thing. So explain to me again why voting is important.....from my perspective it is just the politicians that have a voice...us little people are just scraps of meaningless paper!

I really don't think Obama has a chance to win the presidency. I don't think America is ready for him. Young, no experience, and I hate to say it, but I don't think this country is ready for the first black president, and I don't think they were ready for the first woman president.....that's just my opinion, not my personal feelings on the matter. If I had registered in time, I honestly don't know who I would vote for.

Why does his middle name have to be thrown into every conversation that Conservatives have about him? If anyone needs to change their name, more than me, it's him.

At this point in my life, I have to say, anyone is better than the fool we have. I'm not made of money and I don't have a trust fund to fall back on anymore. I can't afford another Republican in office for another four years.

Hmmm, he does seem to be changing his mind about a couple of things. That's not a good sign..

John Sidney McCain is going to get his ass handed to him in November. Obama is such a superior candidate that he's actually drawing moderate Republican voters to him.

All your blah-blah about him changing his tune is complete hogwash. Nothing he said at AIPAC was any different than he's already said. While he has said he would sit down with Iranian leaders without preconditions, he has also said that there would be much advance preparation and it wouldn't happen unless it would benefit the USA. You should actually listen to the speech he gave. It was stunning and made McCain's positions look tepid and weak by comparison.

What's new? Are you kidding me? After 8 years of a no-diplomacy, bomb-first foreign policy you can't see any difference??? Good Lord, man, pay attention!

I admire the man's recognition that we need to change our economy to energy sources that aren't petroleum-based. More power to him.

I so can't wait for the debates. McCain is going to look like the feeble, Bush-wannabe that he is and Obama's star will shine. He has more money, more ideas and far more supporters. I predict a landslide.
