We all know just how ridiculous TV commercials can be. I mean, some of them are just downright insulting to the intelligence, and in the marketing game those people believe that the more annoying a commercial is, the more likely you'll be to remember the product or service being advertised. Same with the jingles....if it's a catchy tune, or just enough to annoy you immediately, then you'll remember whatever is being pitched.
That guy Billy Mays with the perfect beard and always wearing a blue shirt and tan slacks and hawking anything and everything under the blessed Sun, is just plain annoying to the Nth degree! I don't know if his commercials are regional or not but since it's always a product that cannot be bought in a store, you know, "As seen on TV." Then those commercials may be pretty national. What a bunch of crap! And....you can buy a lot of that stuff in a store. Our local Rite-Aid has a shelf loaded with all kinds of stuff that you see advertised on TV. Everything from the MicroTrimmer to the wireless light switch to the clothes glue to the Weed-Hog to the....well, you name it. There's even a store at one of the Outlet Malls called "As Seen On TV" that has even more stuff....a lot of it I've not seen advertised here or other places that I've been to in my travels.
Anyway.....whether it's that Billy Mays guy or your local vendors commercials many of them are stupid and extremely annoying. I don't know about where any of ya'll live but here, and my hometown as well, the local car dealership commercials are absolutely the worst....and there's no escaping them; they're all over all of the cable stations as well as the main network channels. They have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to deluge and monopolize the TV the way they do. And they're so, so, stupid. And they think that they're being cute and clever. It's hard to imagine why the decision makers would sign off on the garbage that we see.
Well....what I do love are the spoofs and parodies that are done on TV commercials and TV shows as well. I love the bloopers too. My brother has a bunch of films that have bloopers from all kinds of instantly recognizable TV shows; they're absolutely hilarious! Especially the ones he has from the old Star Trek series. But.....spoofs or parodies on TV commercials are usually funny as hell, and below is one of them. Surely many of you have seen the commercial for that ultra-stupid Snuggie blanket thing? It's unbelievable, I can't imagine anyone buying that thing and then wear it outside in public. So....here's the new "What The #&%*^ Blanket"
I agree with you. I don't watch TV but I see it online. I think the blanket itself is a good idea, I wish I had invented it. But I agree with the fact it's very annoying.
Those annoying ads make me determined NOT to buy the product.
The only exception to that is for Hardee's I'm addicted to their burgers, but they've got the most obnoxious commercials going. I buy their burgers in spite of their commercials, not because of them.
I almost bought one of those blankets as my computer has been moved into the garage and it's been horribly cold in there. Some commercials are so retarded, I have to press mute, lol.
Computer-garage? Geez Laurie....how did you let that happen?? Me, I'd probably just bundle up in sweat shirts and one of my hoodies. Looks to me like the What The F#%@#&% Blanket would start to fall off and the sleeves would constantly need rolling and pushed up.
You might want to invest in one of those small space heaters.
